Well, my harddrive bit the dust. May I just say, I recommend backing up your files. Also, I've been busy with things like this:

In art news, I had a successful Studio Tour in mid-October. Kathie Meyer of the PT Leader wrote this in her follow-up article Artists go all out to make studio tour special:

"Ya, know I didn't want to like this," said one visitor who couldn't help but be seduced by painter Counsel Langley's effulgent,* geometric paintings.

*I love the words seduced and effulgent! Granted, I did have to run to the dictionary for effulgent, where I discovered its awesome meaning: shining forth brilliantly; radiant. Sweet!

Also, I've been asked to have a solo show at the Castle Key Lounge in the Fall of 2010. I will create a body of site-specific work for the space and am looking forward obsessing over the contrast between the modern, geometric aspects of my work and the lush, Victorian style of Manresa Castle, where the lounge is housed.

And finally, I am honored to have been invited by Northwind Arts Center to have a show in 2011.

Seattle Time

Just got back from Seattle where I met with the folks at Mithun to talk about a show I'm going to do there next May. I'll be presenting all new, site specific work. I do love architects! I've wanted to do something like this for some time now. Very excited.

While in town I had the pleasure to meet Laurie Kearney, the force behind Ghost Gallery. I left a bunch of paintings with her for an upcoming show at Stylus (see previous post).

I also delivered this painting to Flying House Productions for their upcoming fundraiser auction. Great art, good cause, fun fun.






In addition, Emerald spent a couple of hours being in an music video for a new "Awesome" song called What They Do.

And we went to the zoo for Dare's 2nd birthday.

Thanks for the seat

So the Chair Affair was last night, sounds like it went great. Last I heard they'd raised $8,300 and the donations are still coming in!

I got a little tender about letting go of the kid rocking chair I'd painted and donated, but so be it, to the highest bidder it shall go. Then at the last minute a bunch of my family showed up, all pitched in for it and got the chair for my girls. So sweet! Thanks Ma and Uncle Wayne, Aunt Vickie, Cousins Valerie and Vanessa (up for a weekend visit).

That is Dare sitting in it, but Emerald made the quotable comment when she got to sit in it, "It's like sitting in magic! It is like I'm sitting in one of Mom's paintings and you're not even supposed to touch paintings!"
